Your core skill set is based around visual design execution, with a focus on UI/UX. Ideally, you’re a hybrid designer who can stretch into service design or brand strategy when needed. You are able and excited to flex seamlessly between strategic UX thinking, beautiful UI design, and whatever other project challenges come our way. At Other Tomorrows you will be part of a small but passionate team dedicated to growing a culture-first strategic design studio.
-Collaborate with strategists, designers, developers, and client teams to learn, design, and develop strategies based on human insights.
-Lead small, well-defined projects or work streams within large projects, with guidance and support from Directors
-Lead customer, employee, and user research including ethnography and usability testing.
-Mentor, manage, and coach less experienced team members.
-Plan and moderate client meetings and workshops
-Translate consumer insights into tangible expressions that address and redefine customer pain-points for a better and brighter future.
-Consistently produce thoughtful UX interactions and high-quality UI designs that align with brand guidelines that bring a compelling experience to life.
-Stay current on best practices and design trends that inspire yourself and the team.
-Represent your discipline and Other Tomorrows during the sales process
-Collaborate on multiple, concurrent, and complex projects at various phases in their lifecycle, responding quickly to shifting priorities, to help ensure compelling work.
-Identify and share new opportunities for adding value to deliverables, working with strategists and team leads in a spirit of continuous improvement.
-Ensure strategic intent and user-centricity is translated into final execution, balancing timelines, budgets, feasibility, and desirability.
-Be willing, and excited, to flex in a variety of directions, project types, and phases as Other Tomorrows continues to grow.
-5-10 years of UX & UI experience (We are looking to hire the right person, not the right years of work experience or degrees.)
-Professional (ideally agency or consultancy) experience leading experience design and visual design projects
-Deep understanding of digital design best practices and tools, including, but not limited to, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, accessibility and digital equity in design
-Experience working on digital experiences across multiple modalities (app, web, kiosk, touchscreen, AR/VR, gestural)
-Experience creating and extending brand systems for digital touchpoints
-Samples of compelling work that demonstrate the capacity craft a strategic direction and then translate that direction to create consistent, high-quality experiences
-Strong attention to detail and command of the nuances of the English language, comfortable writing brand appropriate UX copy
-Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to present independently to clients and larger audiences
-Ability to deliver on multiple concurrent, and shifting priorities
-Currently residing in or willing to relocate to the Boston area to work in person 2-3 days per week (Other Tomorrows is a hybrid remote/in person studio)
-Authorized to work in the United States
-Ability to travel for research and client meetings
Other Tomorrows utilizes clear salary bands and tiers based on experience, expectations, and responsibilities. We strive to be transparent about these bands to avoid bias during hiring and promotions. The team is happy to explain more about these tiers and associated expectations during the interview process.
Please note: Salary ranges below reflect base salary. Total compensation includes base salary, profit sharing tied to studio performance, SIMPLE IRA match, health and wellness benefits, etc.
This role is for a level 4 or level 5 practitioner.
Level Four: Lead UX/UI Designer
Base Salary Band: $115,000–$130,000
Level Five: Associate Director, UX/UI
Base Salary Band: $130,000–$150,000
